Seventh Grave and No Body Charley Davidson Darynda Jones 9781250045645 Books
When I finished reading this book, I thought to myself, how did this book get even better than the last? I'll leave the credit all to Ms. Darynda Jones who clearly has one Hell of a plan for this series, pun intended. If you've never read the series before, you do not want to start here, and there's no reason for it. You'll start at the beginning and won't come up for air until you're all caught up in no time. The Charley Davidson series is easily the most unique story around, that is also clever, funny, engaging, entertaining, fast paced, and simply magical which rides on the fringes of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and mystery. If you haven't read previous stories, then this book will have spoilers of previous installments, so if you don't want to know, stop here.Book 7 picks up right where we left off with Sixth Grave from the Edge and Ms. Jones does not drag this story out but moves full steam ahead in her usual fashion to progress the story forward. Charley is now engaged, expecting a baby girl who's prophesized to be the fall of Satan, and is being hunted by the Hounds of Hell, but she still has a job to do and it seems more and more people keep getting in the way of her living her life. There are several mysteries taking place once again, but Charley manages to clear some up early on, while others take place throughout the story. Most prominent is that there are a string of "suicides" where no bodies can actually be found and Charley hasn't received any visits from the dearly departed to truly know what's going on. As she tries to investigate, she has Reyes on her heels at every step, and although they are constantly clashing wills, I still find the relationship between the Son of Satan and the Grim Reaper to be the most compelling couple in fiction, and that's saying something for you Kate and Curran or Cat and Bones fans.
The story is written in its typical Attention Deficit fashion where Charley is easily distracted by caffeine withdrawal, practicing motherhood on a goldfish, and other stray thoughts that constantly pop into her head, that always keep me chuckling and with the deeper than usual revelations, sacrifices, and, yes, losses, the style of writing was very helpful in keeping me from weeping. Charley learns alot more about her abilities and we as readers, learn alot more about the other characters from Amber to The Dealer that are clearly in Charley's life as part of a much bigger picture. As the events unfold, we're left with a very different Charley Davidson and I cannot wait to see how her vengeance will unfold.

Seventh Grave and No Body Charley Davidson Darynda Jones 9781250045645 Books Reviews
The impending war that has been prophesied has really started to ramp up in this series. I wish I had taken notes from the beginning. We are learning so many new pieces to the puzzle. The author is doing a really good job of dropping information in previous books that become more relevant in later books. I'm actually in awe with how the author is tying everything together.
Cases Charley have been tasked with in this book are
-FBI agent Carlson asked for Charlie's help with an unsolved case of a family who was murdered at a camp. This leads to a bigger case that was never resolved in this book. I'm guessing it will get brought up again in another book. This is also the first time Charlie encounters the Hellhounds.
-bodies are being snatched from a cemetery
-people are showing up missing with suspicious suicide notes
-a priest requests Charlies help with a possessed house
We are getting to a point were some pretty shocking things are happening in each book. The more I get to know each character that gets introduced, the more I'm invested in all of their stories. It seems some things do get left open so that leads me to believe that they will pop back into the series in a later book. I'm completely hooked on this series and it seems to just get better and better. On to the next one...

My review for this book's content is why it has two of the three stars. I love this series. Started it on Saturday and moved through it until I just finished this book here on Wednesday. I am not sure if I will continue the series. Spoilers below.
SPOILERS!!!!
As we know from the ending of the 6th book, Charley is pregnant. From book 1-5 Charley has had complete disregard for her safety and the concerns about her safety from other people. That's fine though, she's an adult and can make her own choices. Now she is a pregnant adult and despite the fact that they face more danger in this book than the previous she STILL doesn't think things through. She basically flips the bird to Rayes whenever he tries his best to keep her and their unborn baby safe. She runs into gun fights, deranged killer's house, in hell hound territory, gets shoved to the ground, thrown into walls, mauled by a hell hound, even is completely willing to kill herself to save her friends....while pregnant and knowing her child is supposed to save the world....The only responsible thing she does is get rid of caffeine. That is literally it. I have to hand it to Rayes for being insanely patient with his idiot of a fiance and hope to hell that when the baby is born (assuming she doesn't decide to get herself killed) Rayes or someone takes this poor baby from her since she doesn't give a crap about its well being.
